BOOK LAUNCH: SLOW by Brooke McAlary

Super excited to be hosting, along with Sam Doove of The Rich Life, the Newcastle book launch of SLOW by my lovely friend Brooke McAlary.

Come along as Brooke, slow living devotee and creator of the Slow Your Home podcast, joins us here in Newcastle to talk about her new book - SLOW.

In SLOW, Brooke gently encourages you to find pleasure and value in a simpler life, sharing the practical tips and practices that have helped her and her family become happier and more fulfilled. Enjoying a life centred on the important things - which, it turns out, aren't really things at all.

Part memoir, part practical companion, SLOW provides a fascinating insight into the benefits of slowing down. It will inspire you to forget about the Joneses and create a life filled with the things that really matter to you . . . slowly, of course.

Brooke's podcast, Slow Your Home, has been downloaded over 2 million times. Her website slowyourhome.com has over 45,000 visits each month.

Click here to listen to my Live Immediately podcast episode with Brooke and here to listen to the Slow Home Podcast where Brooke interviewed me.

Tickets are limited and I know will sell out very quickly. They are only $5 to cover venue hire, and a light supper and tea will be provided. Brooke's book, SLOW, will also be available for sale, and signing.

Idea Bombing - Ideas To Innovation

I would like to invite you along to, an exciting and FREE Idea Bombing event that I will be speaking at on Thursday May 18.

The passionate team behind Idea Bombing have partnered with Hunter Innovation Festival, and are hosting an event, which is themed around “Ideas to Innovation”.

If you are interested in innovation and creating change I think you’ll really love this event as ideas that are generated will then be used at Hunter Hackfest, which is kicking off the following night.

I will be speaking about Innovation through simplicity, and discussing how sometimes we need space in life to achieve clarity.

Also speaking at the event will be Sarah Pearson, who is the recently appointed Pro Vice Chancellor of Industry Engagement and Innovation at the University of Newcastle

Along with Christina Gerakiteys, who is the Producer of the Hunter Innovation Festival and the CEO and Chief Enabler at Ideation at Work.

This is a FREE event but you do need to register as spots are limited.

It is set to be a fun night and I am exited to weave in the philosophies of living more with less into the notion of Innovation.

Live Immediately Workshop

A Guide To A Happy Life With Less

We live in a world where we chase that imaginary finishing line, we continuously feel time poor, we feel ashamed as we don’t spend the time we want with our family, we push our life and dreams to tomorrow, but that day never arrives, and we are often left feeling unfulfilled and empty—I understand it all too well as it was me not so many years ago.

To live immediately means to take control of your days and live a deliberate life. I have loved the journey of growth I have been on with my family to structure our life so we can live immediately.

I have learnt to be comfortable with being uncomfortable, and to embrace the unknown, but these qualities have been developed and worked on through a number of methods that I am excited to share with you.

I have filled this workshop with as many of the practical lessons I have learnt and incorporated into my own life. In this hands-on, interactive half-day workshop, you will learn the strategies that I use so you can:

  • Create personal change
  • Push through fear
  • Take control of your time
  • Align your life with your values
  • Be mindful about your money
  • And ultimately to have fun and live immediately

This is not a sit and listen event. Everyone who attends will receive a workbook that I have created so we can dive deep into your personal journey. We will work through what you truly value and what is holding you back from living the life you want. You will leave with ideas and strategies to implement into your life that day.

This half-day, interactive workshop is only $89. But as it is more fun going on a journey of growth with someone—and it is always beneficial to have a friend or partner to help guide you and keep each other accountable—you can bring a friend for only $10.

This workshop delves into many topics and to keep it personable and intimate, spots will be limited to only 20 people.

There is no magic wand, and you will be asking yourself some tough and potentially uncomfortable questions. But the outcome, if you’re willing to make some changes in your life, can be quite rewarding and fun.

  • Date: Saturday April 29
  • Time: 2pm—6pm
  • Venue: Hunter Design School, 67 Parry St, Newcastle (opposite The Edwards)
  • Cost: $89 and bring friend for $10 (two people for $99)

I hope to see you there, and I look forward to helping you live immediately.

Have fun

mike x

Ps: There are costs that I need to cover for this event, however I do not want anyone to miss out due to money. If you cannot afford to attend the event but are committed to taking action to create change, then please reach out to me and we’ll work something out.

LIVE MORE WITH LESS

A Workshop About The Benefits Of Minimalism

Living with less has been a game changer and it has allowed me to pack more FUN into my life.

Since recently returning from our yearlong family adventure, many people have asked me about the benefits of minimalism, how did my family and I purge over 50% of our belongings, and the journey we took to live life with less.

These questions have excited me, as it means people are starting to be mindful of how they live their lives, and really start to question what is important to them.

To help people at the beginning of their own minimalist journey, or people that simply have a few questions about minimalism, I am hosting a free workshop about the benefits of living with less.

During this afternoon I will cover the process that my family and I went through, tips when starting out, and the fun benefits that I have seen in my own life. Along with answering any questions and meeting other people wanting more with less in their lives.

I hope to see you there, as life is so much more with less.

Have fun and live immediately.
